中部大学教育研究, 20 53-67, Dec, 2020type:実践研究・実践報告 本学工学部ロボット理工学科(ER)1年生を対象とした本授業は2014年度に開始した。「いつでも、どこからでも」各自のペースで学習ができるオンライン語学環境と対面授業とをブレンドすることで、週に1回の最小限の授業時間をどのように学習のきっかけとできるかを探究し、学生の英語習得への意欲を向上させるためのブレンド型教育を実践してきた。2020年度春学期は新型コロナウイルスによる感染症対策のため、この授業もオンデマンド型遠隔授業での実施となった。その緊急な状況においては、入学したばかりの1年生をいかに主体的な学習軌道に乗せるか、そして英語コミュニケーション力を養うためのスタートをどのように切らせるかが課題となった。本稿は従来のブレンド型授業での経験をもとに、授業構成を再考し遠隔授業に最適化しようとした新たな一歩を報告するものである。 Since its beginning in 2014, the English Communications course developed for incoming robotics engineering freshmen has focused on trying to increase the effectiveness of limited the face-to-face time instructors have with students by creating an environment where students can study English anytime and anywhere at their own individual pace. The solution to being limited to once-a-week classes has been a blended learning classroom that seeks to both motivate students to learn English while also maximizing the effectiveness of face-to-face lessons. The coronavirus pandemic of 2020 added new challenges to this model as classes for the spring semester had to be adapted for distance learning in a way that still motivated students to become autonomous English learners and help set a foundation for developing English communication skills. This study shows how experiences from conventional blended-learning classes were utilized to restructure the course for distance learning while maintaining the original goals of the curriculum.
